An exceptional and outstanding, accomplished musician. Manfred Anaya has worked tirelessly for the growth and refinement of the music department He was the marching band drum major, carried lead rolls in the high school musicals, directed the concert band, directed the jazz band he plays the flute, alto sax, baritone sax, bassoon, piccolo Manfred Anaya is a fine musician and a great leader.

He has routinely auditioned and made the 5-states honor band, region honor band and area honor band. He has also earned a trip to State Solo and Ensemble.

David Culver is one in a very small handful of students at NWC who has committed nearly 8 years to band. In a school where the music program is still very young, David showed that it is possible to be a pioneer at a small school by exploring what a career in band has to offer. He has shown great leadership and dedication to the NWC Band program. It has been an honor to have David as a student.

Corey Frye played the trumpet in Middle & High School Band and Pep Band, and played an important role in the Fine Arts department throughout his time at Northside Christian Academy. He also led worship with his guitar and singing during weekly chapel services, and played the lead role in the high school play during his senior year. In addition to the JP Sousa Award, Corey received the "Soli Deo Gloria Award", which recognizes the top senior who has been actively involved in Fine Arts at Northside. As the instructor of his music studies at James Bowie High School, Mr. Israel has leadership, teamwork, focus, and his musical talents are a tremendous asset to our program. Israel brings a special energy to the table that few can match. Along with being a very strong and driven leader, he is also a very hard worker in the classroom. He has superior grades in his classes and maintains academic eligibility each grading period. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with this particular student. I immediately I knew he was going to be one of the stronger leaders in the group. He is one of the most polite individuals in our program, and would be a fantastic addition to any group or activity he participates in. He is truly a gifted, strong, and influential leader of our award winning band. He was one of our two senior drum majors in 2013. His leadership, generosity, musical talents, and positive motivat ion will be missed greatly. Israel is a very promising student that is confident, and intelligent. Corinne has played for 6 years, and has been principal flute player in the DFA Symphonic Band for 2 years. She also has played in the All County Honors Band, the District Honors Band, was a finalist for the Governor's Honors Program, and this year she was chosen to be in the All State Concert Band. She has studied flute privately for over 2 years, and won 3rd Place in the South Carolina Flute Association's competition in Spring 2013. Corinne has been accepted to study Flute Performance in the School Of Music at Kennesaw State University in Atlanta.

The person receiving the award this evening is recognized by her peers as someone who has had a tremendous impact on our program. This person is someone who always has the best intentions and desire to make our program better. For four years, we have been spoiled by her gorgeous sound and artistry. She made Wind Ensemble as a sophomore and was our second 2 year Drum Major. She was a three year member of the pit orchestra, and even played a little sax in marching band. This past year, she was featured as a soloist at the Senior Recognition Concert. It has been our pleasure to be her directors.

The UA band through major transition, and David showed the dedication and love for music to fight to keep our band program going.
