Adelaide Adams Cameron High School, Cameron, WI. Class of 2021. Instrument: Saxophone, Director: Tyler Halverson. Adelaide has been a leader in our saxophone section throughout her high school career. She has been a versatile player in the section, playing soprano, alto, tenor, and bari throughout her time in our program. She also has served as a student aide in our department and helped to mentor middle school musicians. 

Nathan Adams Manhattan Christian School, Churchill, MT. Class of 2023. Instrument: Trumpet, Director: Daniel Chausse. Nathan has tremendous character and leadership for his age. He is an outgoing leader and dedicated musician, and has placed highly in Music Festivals and All-State competitions. It is a joy to teach him.

Gyles Adderley Middletown Area High School, Middletown, PA. Class of 2021. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Samuel K. Fisher. Gyles performed as a percussionist in the marching band and concert band. He served as President during his senior year.

Kate Agee Lipscomb Academy, Nashville, TN. Class of 2023. Instrument: Flute, Director: Noel Hicks. Kate is an exemplary band student. She works hard, inspires her peers, and demonstrates musical excellence. There is no one more deserving for this honor.

Rianne Aguilar Newbury Park Adventist Academy, Newbury Park, CA. Class of 2021. Instrument: Flute, Director: Suny Lopez. Rianne Aguilar is from Ventura, CA.

Kali Ahrens Vista Ridge High School, Colorado Springs, CO. Class of 2021. Instrument: Trombone, Director: Ethan Hall. Talent, passion, and hard work have all shown throughout Kali's high school career. She began in freshman Concert Band, but by her senior year was sitting as Principal Trombone in Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band, in addition to being Low Brass Captain for Marching Band. Multi-talented, Kali also was a member of VR's award-winning Show Choir.

Yano Aliffi Decatur High School, Decatur, GA. Class of 2021. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Tyler Ehrlich. Yano Aliffi is an extremely hard working musician from Decatur (Ga.) High School. He is a well-rounded percussionist, and a kind and warm young man.

Andres Alvarez Career Academy South Bend, South Bend, IN. Class of 2021. Instrument: Baritone Saxophone/Cello, Director: Alice Brown.

Ashlynn Anders South Sumter High School, Bushnell, FL. Class of 2021. Instrument: Saxophone, Director: Pete Perrone. As a freshman Ashlynn began to show her talent as a sax player through her efforts on the marching field and in solo and ensemble leading a saxophone quartet to SUPERIOR rating. Since then she has earned 2 solo SUPERIORS and was a member of Percussion Ensemble earning 2 SUPERIOR ratings. Ashlynn has been part of the bands Leadership Team since sophomore year serving 2 years as section leader and as Drum Major senior year. she has proven to thoroughly fulfil all the qualities that earned her the JPS Award!

Scott Andreae Sevastopol School, Sturgeon Bay, WI. Class of 2021. Instrument: Alto Saxophone, Director: Tanya Hasenjager. Scott plays the alto saxophone in the band and jazz band. He has also been a Louis Armstrong award winner as well. 

Marshall Apopot Douglas MacArthur High School, San Antonio, TX. Class of 2021. Instrument: Alto Saxophone, Director: Evan Berry. Marshall had the opportunity to quit band and stick with athletics, but instead proved you can participate in multiple activities as a 2 year drum major, varsity tennis participant, summa cum laude graduate, and role model for all students in the program. He is the spirit of the MacArthur Band.

Reagan Bain Lakes International Language Academy, Forest Lake, MN. Class of 2021. Instrument: Flute, Director: Jeffrey P. Ruhnke. Reagan readily takes initiative with the Flute Section. She is very organized and takes charge. She leads the Band with Warmups and Sectional practices. Her Musicianship and Leadership skills are Top-Notch. She will go far.

Nathan Bartley Ascension Academy, Amarillo, TX. Class of 2021. Instrument: Bass Trombone, Director: Mykel Byersmith. Nathan Bartley has been a member of the Ascension Academy Band throughout Middle School and High School. He has made multiple All-Region Bands, and he was also a member of the Amarillo Youth Orchestra. He will be attending the University of Texas at Dallas after graduation.

Lorelei Bassinger Syracuse High School, Syracuse, NE. Class of 2021. Instrument: bass clarinet, Director: Brandy Hall. Lorelei excels on bass clarinet in symphonic band while playing lead alto sax in jazz ensemble and serving as drum major for the marching band. She plans to continue performing in band ensembles at University of NE-Omaha in fall of 2022.

Landon Boone Station Camp High School, Gallatin, TN. Class of 2021. Instrument: Oboe, Horn, Piano, Guitar, etc., Director: Jim Reed. Landon Boone served as drum major for the Station Camp Thundering Herd in 2019 & 2020, while also being an active member of the Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, and Indoor Drumline. The band recently premiered his composition, Nova, on their 2021 Spring Concert. His talent and ability to play just about any instrument with quality has provided amazing contributions to the band program during his time here.

Kyle Boschen Randall High School, Amarillo, TX. Class of 2021. Instrument: Euphonium, Director: Ginger Denney. 3 Year TMEA All State musician, drum major, and exceptional leader.

Josephine Bossenberger Bullock Creek High School, Midland, MI. Class of 2021. Instrument: Flute, Director: Josephine Bossenberger. Kaylee Monville was drum major, nominated for outstanding performances by MSBOA, played flute and baritone sax through her senior year. She was very dedicated and will be a music major intending to become a band director in the future.

Michael Branigan Dominican High School, Whitefish Bay, WI. Class of 2021. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Timothy Dries. Michael is a very talented percussionist and was dedicated to our band program, having been a key band member all four years at Dominican. He was a student leader when it came to playing with our drum line and with the pep band as well.

Breanne Blake Clay County High School, Clay, WV. Class of 2021. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Morgan Dolly. A percussionist who participated in 5+ ensembles. She was also field commander during her senior year, guest conductor for brass ensemble and concert band. She maintains a 3.8 GPA

Tessa Brouwer Pella Christian High School, Pella, IA. Class of 2021. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Autumn Bennett. Tessa is a well-rounded percussionist that led her section with grace and poise. A two-time all-stater, Tessa left an indelible mark on the community of Pella and Pella Christian.

Ryan Bunyard Granville High School Band, Granville, OH. Class of 2021. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Jerod Smith. Ryan is an outstanding student that performs in all of the musical ensembles at Granville High School including the symphonic band, marching band, jazz band, steel band, and guest performances with the choirs and orchestras. After studying privately and diligently for many years, he has been an incredible leader and has been accepted to attend Ohio University to major in music composition.

Kristen Cabatingan John Swett High School, Crockett, CA. Class of 2021. Instrument: Soprano Saxophone, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, and Marimba, Director: Felix Cadiz.

Chloe Caldwell Alleghany High School, Sparta, NC. Class of 2021. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Lexi Tornatore. Chloe has been involved in band since middle school. She has been a part of the marching and concert bands throughout high school. Chloe played tenor drums for marching band and snare drum, among others, for concert band. Her future plans are to attend Wilkes Community College to major in School Counseling.

Jorge Caraccioli Calallen High School, Corpus Christi, TX. Class of 2021. Instrument: Euphonium, Director: Jeffery Valperts. Jorge Caraccioli has been an outstanding band student here in Calallen ISD. He has served our on leadership team as Field Commander. Jorge is a Texas All-Stater on Euphonuim and he will be marching his 3rd year with Genesis Drum & Bugle Corps.

Benjamin Carlile Bellville High School, Bellville, TX. Class of 2021. Instrument: French Horn, Director: Kenneth Peters. Benjamin is a fantastic performer, musician, and student. He does everything to the best of his ability and just enjoys practicing, performing and pushing those around him to be better.

Desiree Carter Campbell-Tintah Public High School, Campbell, MN. Class of 2021. Instrument: Alto Saxophone, Director: Nickolas Bodin.

Marissa Cartwright Wild Rose High School, Wild Rose, WI. Class of 2021. Instrument: Flute, Director: Mikayla Mixdorf. Marissa is an outstanding person, leader, and musician. I can rely on her for anything and everything as she is always willing to go above and beyond. She is adored by her peers as she is kind, helpful, funny, and smart. She will be greatly missed as she graduates, but she has left her mark here at Wild Rose in the Music Department, and in the hearts of her classmates.

Shayanne Lynn Castro Savage High School, Savage, MT. Class of 2021. Instrument: Clarinet , Director: Nate Louisignau. Shayanne has been involved in multiple ensembles throughout her time in school. Her involvement includes: Savage High School Band, Savage High School Choir, Savage Warrior Pep Band, SHS Warrior Drumline and she has participated in community choir as well. Shayanne has been selected for her District 11 Honor Band for three years and District 11 Honor Choir for one. She has also received superior ratings at the Montana State Solo & Ensemble Festival all four years of high school in clarinet solo, vocal solo and instrumental ensemble with other members of her class. Shayanne plans to pursue a degree in music performencr or music education and has worked very hard to be the very best student musician she can be. I am extremely proud to nominate her for this year’s John Philip Sousa Award!

Sebastian Chaillot Crowley High School, Crowley, LA. Class of 2021. Instrument: Percussionist, Director: Cody LeBouef. Sebastian is an outstanding musician, leader, person, and composer. He has been a tremendous help to me over the last two years, and has helped his fellow percussionists grow in many ways.

Her skill on flute has brought her many accolades; however, she remains a servant leader with a humble attitude. She is most deserving of this award and is an inspiration to others in the Gilmer Band.

Kess Cole Wellston High School, Wellston, OK. Class of 2021. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Michelle Garrison. Kess is a determined and hard working student. They have been a part of the band program in Wellston Public School since their 5th grade year.

Avery Coleman Hale Area Schools, Hale, MI. Class of 2021. Instrument: Bass Clarinet, Director: Shane Billingsley. Avery has been in band since 5th grade, always going out of his way to learn different instruments & writing compositions for various ensembles. He is going on for a degree in Computer Science and a minor in music.

Luke Creed Cardston High School, Cardston, AB. Class of 2021. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Barrett Swendsen. Luke is a very hard working and talented percussionist. He always performed to his best in rehearsals and in concerts. He led not only the percussion section, but the whole band with his amazing example and love for making music.

Michael B. Crouse Cherokee Bluff High School, Flowery Branch, GA. Class of 2021. Instrument: Percussion, Director: J. Craig Cantrell. Cherokee Bluff High School, Flowery Branch, GA. Class of 2021. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Craig Cantrell. Michael B. Crouse, one of the founding members of our band program, was instrumental in the shaping of our percussion section and overall band program at Cherokee Bluff High School. During his time, served as Percussion Captain and helped establish routines and procedures that have remained today. Mr. Crouse is a Music Education student at Young Harris College in North Georgia.

Zuleika Cruz University Preparatory Academy, San Jose, CA. Class of 2021. Instrument: Bass Clarinet and Bb Clarinet, Director: Jemal Ramirez. Zuleika Cruz started in beginning band in 7th grade at UPA. She moved up the ranks quietly but steadily. During her junior and senior year, she managed to maintain her grades at our rigorous school that urges our students to take several AP classes. While taking this on plus band, she also had to maintain while having the Corona virus zoom world to figure out (for 12 months online). Zuleika I believe will be quite successful in the future, she is not a quitter.

Emily Davis Putnam County R-1 High School, Unionville, MO. Class of 2021. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Michelle Booth. Emily Davis is a 2021 graduate of Putnam County High School. She is an accomplished clarinetist, an inspiring leader, and was the drum major for the high school marching band 2 consecutive years. She attended All Conference Bands, All District Bands, and received I's at the state level for her clarinet solos.

Jacob Day Capital Christian Homeschool Bands, Youngsville, NC. Class of 2021. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Brent Brondyke. Jacob is a standout musician and young man. He is active in his church where he also uses his musical talents. He is a gifted pianist, saxophonist, and singer in addition to his accomplished clarinet playing.

Isaac Dillon Calvary Christian School, Bellefontaine, OH. Class of 2021. Instrument: Trumpet/French Horn, Director: Kirsten Saur. Isaac showed incredible leadership and dedication his years in band. He composed music for his classmates and conducted them himself. He is dedicated in his practice and excels at Trumpet and French Horn.

Harrison Dixon Holly Springs High School, Holly Springs, NC. Class of 2021. Instrument: Horn, Director: Michael E. Biasi. Harrison was a four year member of the band program. An Eagle Scout, he was a three time member of the All-District Bands and auditioned for the NC All-State Band his senior year. He was also the Band Captain of the Marching Band, attended the NC Governor's School for the Arts, and was a member of the Triangle Youth Brass Band. He is taking his talents to UNC-Chapel Hill to major in Business and Music.

Hannah Doyle Seckman High School, Imperial, MO. Class of 2021. Instrument: Trombone, Director: Benjamin Middleton. Hannah Doyle distinguished herself through outstanding performance and leadership within the Pride Band Program. With multiple selections to All-District and All-District Jazz honor bands, local honor ensembles, and community ensembles, she set a strong example for her peers. Hannah is a friend to everyone and helps all students in need. She has enlisted in the US Army to become a linguist.

Abbie Drake Long Beach High School, Long Beach, MS. Class of 2021. Instrument: Clarinet , Director: Mickey Mangum. Abbie Drake is a clarinet player in the Long Beach Band and has served as the band's drum major for 3 years. Abbie Drake will be attending William Carey University in Hattiesburg, MS to major in Music Education and plans to become an elementary music teacher.

Morgan Dull Constantine High School, Constantine, MI. Class of 2021. Instrument: Alto Saxophone, Director: Crystal Sherd-Chew. Morgan Dull is an exceptional student. She is dedicated to our band program. Her work with younger grades and support is admirable. Her performance on the field and on the stage is a credit to her musicianship. She is well deserving of this high award.

Ethan Duncan Hardee Senior High School, Wauchula, FL. Class of 2021. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Jason K. Thompson. Ethan has demonstrated not only superior performance on the snare drum, but also remarkable initiative in leadership and willingness to help younger students and the overall band program wherever possible.

Aeron Dunn Colusa High School, Colusa, CA. Class of 2021. Instrument: Flute, Director: Bethany Miller. Aeron Dunn has been in the Colusa music program for the past 4 years. They have dedicated themselves to pursuing outside music opportunities as well as excelling in the school music program on their instrument. Aeron has served as a loyal mentor to several students in the Colusa music program and has a bright future ahead.

Morgan Eastling Mount Tabor High School, Winston-Salem, NC. Class of 2021. Instrument: Horn, Director: Michael Benner. Morgan has been part of the marching band for 5 years and a member of the Wind Ensemble all four years she have been at Mount Tabor. She has participated in All-County band, All-District Band, and All-County Orchestra. In addition to their musicianship, they have been a leader in the marching band for three years, including drum major, bringing success to the marching band as well.

Madison Eastman Milton Hershey School, Hershey, PA. Class of 2021. Instrument: Tuba/Sousaphone, Director: Jeremy M. Ulrich. Madison Eastman represented an extremely high level of musicianship and marching leadership. Her dedication to building our low brass program has been paramount.

Miina Efta Valley Christian School, Spokane Valley, WA. Class of 2021. Instrument: Flute, Director: Mrs. Elizabeth Craciun. Miina has remained committed to the band and to pursuing excellence on her instrument throughout her junior high and high school years at Valley Christian. Her hard work and dedication have set the standard for the rest of the band to strive towards. Well done!

Anna Elsen La Follette High School, Madison, WI. Class of 2021. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Jamie Kember. Anna Elsen is an exceptional percussionist that leads by example. She takes on every music opportunity presented to her with gusto. I can't wait to see how she uses her talents to make her impact on the world.

Micah Bidgood Enders Susquehanna Township High School, Harrisburg, PA. Class of 2021. Instrument: Euphonium, Director: Graham Kerick. Micah is a Euphonium player in concert band, baritone in marching band, trombone in jazz band, and sings in both the chorus and select chorus at Susquehanna Township High School. He is a highly dedicated musician and very motivated student. He will pursue a degree in music education starting in the Fall of 2021.

He has been one student that has changed our band since his 6th grade year. He is eager to learn and to encourage his classmates to learn and get better. As a freshman he was one chair away from making all-state.

Madison Marie Fish Ticonderoga High School, Ticonderoga, NY. Class of 2021. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Michael Iturrino. Madison is a percussionist, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. She has performed with many all state and all county ensembles. Madison has also frequently performed for the NYSSMA solo festival. She will be attending the Crane School of Music in the fall, studying music education.

Allison Fitzwater Southern Garrett High School, Oakland, MD. Class of 2021. Instrument: Trumpet, Director: Jason Shaw. Allison is not only a top notch player, but also a fantastic leader. This band would not be where it is today without her.

Caiden Flowers Bangor Area High School, Bangor, PA. Class of 2021. Instrument: Tuba, Director: Kevin Horne. Concert, Symphonic, Jazz Marching and Pep Bands and pit orchestra playing both Tuba and Bass. Band President and tuba section leader during senior year. PMEA District & Region Bands. Northampton County Band, active in various community bands. Attending Penn State University for Tuba Performance.

Zachary Fong Eno River Academy, Hillsborough, NC. Class of 2021. Instrument: Tenor Sax/Piano, Director: Katherine Woodrum. I highly recommend Zachary Fong for the John Philip Sousa Award. I have been Zach’s band and jazz band director for the past four years, where he has served as the leader in our tenor sax section, and more recently, as our jazz pianist. From being an outstanding student, musician and performer at the start, Zach has grown into a serious musician both inside and outside of the classroom. He is a truly versatile musician, and in the past two years, has become a budding composer. Kaden Kuchynka Custer County District High School, Miles City, MT. Class of 2021. Instrument: French Horn, Director: Chase Breitbach. This student has always been a leader within the band. Whether it be as a model of proper decorum or as a model of exceptional playing, their influence has greatly helped to shape our ensemble. Through their musicianship they have gone above and beyond, taking on the responsibilities of more than one person, as a player and as a student in general.

Thomas Largent Jeffersonville High School, Jeffersonville, IN. Class of 2021. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Adam Miller. Thomas was an active member of the Winter Percussion program and is a member of the Bronze Medalist State Finals group. He was selected as a member of the Kentucky Ambassadors of Music Choral trip to Europe in 2020, a member of the 2021 ICDA All-State Honor Choir, and an active member in Marching Band and various instrumental ensembles on and off campus. These ensembles include the handbell choir at his church, Winter Percussion ensembles, and Solo and Ensemble groups. He was selected as Cymbal Section leader in the band program and Bass Section leader in the Chamber Choir. Thomas is attending the University of Indianapolis where he was named a Presidential Scholar and continues to be active in the music department.

Alex Le West Cabarrus High School, Concord, NC. Class of 2024. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Emily McNeil. Alex is a dedicated musician who was instrumental in the success of the West Cabarrus Band Program during our opening year in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. He always practices to exceed his goals, is responsible and dedicated to helping the band program, director, and his peers, and he maintains an energetic and positive attitude through any circumstance. He plays in percussion ensemble, drum line, wind ensemble, and plays piano in jazz band. He is a fantastic inaugural recipient of the John Philip Sousa Award for West Cabarrus High School.

Section leader and drum major, Alaina has acted as a student leader for many years at Wheatland Union High School and continued that leadership through a time of pandemic. Sydney Nix was selected to the Alabama All-State Bands every year from 7th through 12th grade. Two of those years she was a member of the Red Band, the highest honor in the state. Sydney will be marching with the University of Alabama Million Dollar Band while pursuing a Nursing degree at Shelton State Community College.

Gabe Pecar transferred into Catholic Central (CCHS) at the beginning of his Sophomore year. In three years, he made incredible progress, became an outstanding leader and musician, and helped other students become excited about music. Excellent trombone player and is one of the reasons why I selected Peacemaker March, was because of him! He was our Senior Drum Major, 1st chair trombone player, made the All-Region Band and received a full academic scholarship to Notre Dame University! He is one of the greatest student leaders I've been around, and will do amazing things in the future.

Tyler has been nominated for this prestigious award for a variety reasons to include his leadership roles. He has contributed by assisting other students, mentoring them and giving them a better understanding of their instruments. He addresses issues with more difficult music compositions and shows an intense love of music ability and talent. He earned first chair and is an accomplished musician in both pep and concert band. He participated in our music program by performing solos, participating in duets, small ensembles and attending music festivals. He is good to his peers and is eager to participate in making a great sound when playing any instrument in the band. He has worked with our younger drum section and been most helpful overall.

Arnold Spickerman Negaunee High School, Negaunee, MI. Class of 2021. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Jacob Schmeltzer. Arnold Spickerman was selected to be Negaunee High Schools recipient for the John Philip Sousa Award based on his exceptional musical talent and dedication to the band program. Throughout the challenges the band faced, especially those of Covid 19, Arnie's positivity and leadership played a major role in keeping the band energized every day. Arnie is continuing to pursue music as performer and a songwriter.

He has made the state solo and ensemble contest every year in his high school career. He has also been selected to numerous honor bands and region bands.

Jamie joined band in the 6th grade playing flute, and also learned to play baritone saxophone in high school. She has consistently participated in marching band, pep band, jazz band, and concert band. She served as a section leader in the 2019 Pride of Morristown marching band.

Breanna Thompson has been playing trumpet for 10 years at community Christian school, and is an outstanding musician. She has plans to go to college to pursue a bachelor’s degree in music and hopes to become a elementary band or music teacher.

Kymberlee Thormann Blooming Grove ISD, Blooming Grove, TX. Class of 2021. Instrument: Bass Clarinet, Director: Kevin DeLaVergne. Kymberlee was the Drum Major for the Blooming Grove Lion Pride Band. Kymberlee was an extremely hard worker, and helped to foster a culture of success. In the future Kymberlee plans to continue her musical education and become a Director of Bands in Texas.

Luna Torello Avant Garde Academy of Broward, Hollywood, FL. Class of 2021. Instrument: Tuba, Director: Marcos Joel Rodriguez. Luna is the very 1st Band students who enrolled 6 years ago when the school first opened. She has been a loyal member every year. She took it upon herself to ensure that the heritage of great low brass musicians continues once she leaves, to ensure that her legacy continues. She was our Band Captain, Student Conductor, section leader, and held numerous accolades. She expanded her abilities as a member of the choir program participating in several choirs, and was president of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She was awarded a music scholarship from the school, and will continue to study music in the future. After watching grow up over the past 6 years, she will be missed.

Louis has demonstrated exemplary leadership and mentor capabilities over his 5 years in the Tiger Band. His help with the Primary School Band has created a legacy that will not be forgotten.

Liberty Vickery Skyview High School, Billings, MT. Class of 2021. Instrument: Bassoon, Director: Aaron Schendel. Libby has been a pro all four years of high school. Taking private lessons, mentoring new students, and seeking out opportunities to make a difference in our community.

Minson Vo George Bush High School, Richmond, TX. Class of 2021. Instrument: Euphonium, Director: Dr. John Wilkerson. Minson is the first student in GBHS History to make the TMEA ALL-STATE. He did it twice. He is a natural leader and is very loyal to the band program.

Isabella R. Wade Kinder High School, Kinder, LA. Class of 2021. Instrument: Alto Saxophone , Director: Brandon Lafleur . Isabella Wade has been an exceptional musician and leader of the KHS Band of Gold since 7th grade. She has served as a section leader and woodwind captain, and was the Drum Major during her junior and senior year. She was 4th chair in the 2019 District V Buccaneer Honor Band and has competed at several area marching/concert festivals. Isabella will attend McNeese State University in the fall of 2021 as a member of the Pride of McNeese marching band. 

Kate Sloan Wages Clinton High School, Clinton, SC. Class of 2021. Instrument: Oboe, Director: Kolman McMurphy. Kate consistently models excellence, musicianship, enthusiasm, and dedication to others through her ability to care for individuals in the band, find common ground in crisis, and lead by example in achievement and service. Kate is passionate about servant leadership and has genuinely redefined the standards for the student leaders that follow her in our band program. The Clinton Band program has been shepherded into a new era because of Kate's leadership, commitment, and vision for the band program.

His influences reached out across our program taking major roles in leadership and on the field responsibility. Kailee Welker is a talented trumpet player, singer, and guitarist from Clayton, Oklahoma. She has participated in band since elementary and has participated in both district and state band contests. She is an active musician in her school and her community.

Louisa Wren Whalen South Brunswick High School, Southport, NC. Class of 2021. Instrument: Clarinet/ Alto Saxophone, Director: Michael Palmer. Accomplishments include...All County and All District Selection all 4 years; Eligible for NC Honors Auditions 3 years; Selected for multiple honor bands at UNCW, UNCP, Univ. of South Carolina; Selected in 2020 for NC Governor's School and Juilliard Summer Winds; 2021 Semper Fi Award Winner. She also performed in numerous community ensembles. Wren was accepted to UNCG to double major in music education and performance. As decorated as she was as a performer, Wren was an even better person- earning massive respect from staff, parents, and peers alike for her grace, positivity and work ethic.

Madison's dedication to excellence and the pursuit of being the best musician she can be is evident in the short time she has been with us. She has dedicated herself to our program and made every possible effort to further herself and others as much as possible. She intends to pursue music education in college in the Fall and her impact on this program will be felt for years to come.

Reitz High School. I will be attending Murray State University in the fall of 2021 to pursue a degree in Music Performance and a career of playing in pit orchestras. I have participated in many ensembles including but not limited to: the River Brass Band, the River Brass Youth Band, the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, the Evansville Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, the EVSC Honors Band, the EVSC Honors Jazz Band, the Bokeh Big Band, the F.J. She has chaired high in honor bands in both trumpet and French horn, and also plays the flute. She has a gift for linguistics which she will pursue further in college and used this ability on a short-term mission trip to Micronesia.

Enjia "Bill" Zhang came to my school as a sophomore and quickly asserted himself as one of the best overall concert percussionists I have seen in my time. He will be attending the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University with a focus in Music Performance - Percussion.
