He devours music as if his life depends on it. He has played clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone, and french horn in his time in the Charleston bands.

H has represented our school at the state level for three and has placed fist chair at state and the district levels. He is truly an outstanding musician.

Hannah Bell Hamilton High School, Hamilton, TX. Class of 2024. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Tim Edins. Hannah Bell has been one of the hardest working students in our program. Serving as Drum Major for two years, she has helped guide our band to success!

John Berns Pana High School, Pana, IL. Class of 2024. Instrument: Trumpet, Director: Tony Hicks. John Berns is a very well-rounded musician. He is a fantastic trumpet player, vocalist, pianist, and composer. John has earned honors at the All-State level for vocals and his compositions. He will be attending Belmont University in the fall to pursue his degree in Instrumental Music Education.

Lyssa Binz Vinton County High School, McArthur, OH. Class of 2024. Instrument: Alto Saxophone, Director: Sam Koogle. 

Emily Black Rich Hill R-IV, Rich Hill, MO. Class of 2024. Instrument: Baritone Saxophone, Director: Allison Holsey. Emily is a senior at Rich Hill. Emily plans to go to college for vocal music education but continue to play in band. Our band lacks Tuba and very much low brass so Emily has been our bass line pretty much her entire career. Emily is a strong player and a leader in our band.

Ellie Boudreau Warren County High School, Front Royal, VA. Class of 2024. Instrument: Flute, Director: David Dingess. Ellie is a member of the Marching, Concert and Jazz Bands. She has made All-District Band and was eligible to try out for All-State Band.

Maddex Bragg Tolsia High School, Fort Gay, WV. Class of 2024. Instrument: Tuba, Director: Nicholas Bragg. Drum Major. All-County, All-Region.

Clay Brandenburger Twin River Public School, Genoa, NE. Class of 2024. Instrument: Alto Saxophone, Director: Joshua Reiff. Clay Brandenburger is an outstanding musician at Twin River. Being involved in both Choir and Band, he also finds time to come to most pep band games, and perform solos at District Music Contest. He also is a dedicated leader in the Twin River Marching Band.

Dane Brecount Van Buren County School District, Keosauqua, IA. Class of 2024. Instrument: Tuba/Bass, Director: Dave Adams. Tuba and Electric Bass player.

Abby Britt Spring Valley Hall High School, Spring Valley, IL. Class of 2024. Instrument: Flute/Bari Sax, Director: Brandon Lee Czubachowski. She began band with me as a flute player and added saxophone to her list in our beginning band class. She has become a leader of both helping students play better, and her own improvement as she contemplates a future in either Music Education or Music Therapy.

Ethan Bull Glenns Ferry High School, Glenns Ferry, ID. Class of 2024. Instrument: trumpet, Director: Shannon Wootan. Ethan has excelled at band over the last 8 years. He has taught himself to play the trumpet, piano, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, baritone, ukulele, and drums. Ethan is a member of the Pep Band, High School Modern Band, High School Concert Band as well as a band mentor for the elementary kids.

Anderson Bunch Paris High School, Paris, TX. Class of 2024. Instrument: Trumpet, Director: Charles Grissom. Anderson is a 3-time 5a TMEA All State Member and was 1st chair 2 times.

Adan Callejo Milan C-2, Milan, MO. Class of 2024. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Stephen Till. Adan has been a member of the Emerald Regiment of Milan C-2 for 6 years, performing at a high level since the 7th grade. He has performed at the Truman State University Honor Band for 2 years, GRC Honor Band for 2 years, NEMO All-District Band 2 years, and National FFA Band 1 year. Adan has received both outstanding and exemplary ratings for his Solos at the District level, and has helped the Emerald Regiment Concert Band to earn an exemplary rating 2 years in a row.

Katherine Campman Milford High School, Milford, OH. Class of 2024. Instrument: Saxophone and Percussion, Director: Brandon Dittgen, Tim Dailey. Katy Campman is a saxophonist from Milford Ohio. She has been a member of the Ohio All State Band as well as various other ensembles. She is excited to pursue a future in music.

Avery Cannon Lenoir City High School, Lenoir City, TN. Class of 2024. Instrument: Saxophone, Director: Zachary Slimp. Avery Cannon, member and drum major of the Lenoir City High School band, is a constant role model for her peers. Avery is the definition of excellence, playing in several community ensembles and motivating her peers to do the same. 

Emanuel Chambers Hector High School, Hector, AR. Class of 2024. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Melissa Bays. Emanuel has exceeded expectations when it comes to band. He has consistently earned a spot in All-Region and earned a spot in All-State this year.

KC Clair Madelia High School, Madelia, MN. Class of 2024. Instrument: Flute, Director: Luke Olsby. KC is the quintessential music student, participating in both band and choir since 5th grade. She has helped the band program greatly with her leadership. In addition to our regular concert schedule, she has participated in both pep band and solo & ensemble competition, as well as several honor bands.

Maria May Collins, a stalwart of Calhoun Middle High School's performing arts for 8 years, distinguished herself through her exemplary attitude and leadership. Her role as a section leader in the marching band exemplifies her unwavering commitment and passion for music, inspiring peers along the way.

Trey Cosper Troup County High School, LaGrange, GA. Class of 2024. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Logan Huerta . Trey Cosper is a 5 year member of the Marching band under the direction of Logan Huerta. Trey comes from a long family history of musicians and has been playing the drums since around the age of 3. After high school, Trey plans to attend college and major in Commercial Music.

Samantha Cox Cherryvale High School, Cherryvale, KS. Class of 2024. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Tad Lafferty.

Rayanna Davis Crescent High School, Iva , SC. Class of 2024. Instrument: Alto Saxophone, Director: Travis Waters. Rayanna is the Band Captain, if a member of the Anderson All County Band, leadership team and plans to major in Music Education.

Brylle Deseo Orange Vista High School, Perris, CA. Class of 2024. Instrument: Euphonium, Director: Joshua Boyd. Brylle has stood out as a great player and a great leader since his freshman year in distance learning. He is willing and ready to tackle any job given to him or challenge that crosses his way. He does this with a great sense of humor, and a strong willingness to help others do the same. I am grateful to have been his director for 4 years, and am excited to see where music takes him in the future.

Steven Driscoll Hannan Junior Senior High School, Ashton, WV. Class of 2024. Instrument: Alto Saxophone, Director: Dr. John R. Carlisle. Steven was a percussionist and won the outstanding band member award in his 9th grade year. For various reasons, beyond both of our controls, he could not do band his 10th or 11th grade years. He came to me during the spring of his 11th grade year and informed me he would be back for his senior year. I was excited to have a good percussionist back in band. To my surprise, he said he wanted to learn the alto saxophone. He started in June and by the time we went to ratings in April, he was our soloist and section leader of 6 good players. He is now going to college as a music major on alto saxophone. In 35 years, I have never seen someone so dedicated, and progress so far in such a short time.

Kawan Freeman Palmer High School, Palmer, MA. Class of 2024. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Joshua Hubbard. Kawan Freeman has shown musical aptitude and dedication to the music program at Palmer High School that is seen only a handful of times during a director’s career. Kawan has shown the epitome of commitment through his role as drum major, mentor for the colorguard, and leader of the ensemble.

Kole Gensamer Bray-Doyle Public School, Marlow, OK. Class of 2026. Instrument: Trumpet, Director: Matthew Lucas. Kole Gensamer is an outstanding musician and leader in the High School Band. He knows the value of hard work and dedication. Kole has received two consecutive years of superior rating with his trumpet solo.

Geovanni Guardado Gateway High School, Kissimmee, FL. Class of 2024. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Jonathan Money. 2024 Band Captain in the Gateway High School Band Program.

Taylor Guttadauro Satellite Senior High School, Satellite Beach, FL. Class of 2024. Instrument: Flute, Director: Joseph Leites. Taylor has been the backbone of the Satellite HS band program. She has played in every ensemble imaginable and will be an amazing musician and future educator.

Amanda Hammond Martinsville Jr./Sr. High, Martinsville, IL. Class of 2025. Instrument: Flute, Director: Presley Hillyard. Amanda has shown leadership and outstanding musicianship by working hard to learn her music, memorizing music without being asked, and working with younger students to help them improve their playing skills. She has helped out with many events that she was not required to be at. Amanda is my second-hand man in the music classroom.

Seleny Remirez has been playing the flute since 7th grade, making this her 6th year playing the flute in band. She has performed in many concerts. Playing the flute is one of her passions in life; she loves it so much!

Will Hernandez Faribault high school, Faribault, MN. Class of 2027. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Andrew Dussi. He's always a great student and a great clarinet player. He always encourages his classmates to play and have fun.

Megan Hopson Valley Christian School, Spokane Valley, WA. Class of 2024. Instrument: Flute, trombone, percussion, piano, Director: Liz Craciun. Megan has been an integral part of our band program for the past 6 years. Her talents are numerous, playing proficiently on flute, trombone, piano, and mallet percussion in the bands as needed. In her senior year, she served as the band Teacher's Assistant, helping tutor young 5th and 6th grade players with patience and skill. Her contributions to the program had a significant impact and will be missed.

Danny Jackson is a student who always displays leadership and the positive merits performing in an ensemble can offer. Keenen Jones Nottoway High School, Crewe, VA. Class of 2024. Instrument: French Horn, Director: Carrie Smith. Born and raised in Nottoway County and began his musical Journey in the 7th grade after choosing the Trombone as his main instrument. Later switched to the French Horn during his Sophomore Year and has participated in various All-District and College Honor Band Performances.

Charles Kaftan Sandusky Central Catholic School, Sandusky, OH. Class of 2024. Instrument: Clarinet and Percussion, Director: Mr. Griffith Gentilcore. Charles Kaftan is the current Sandusky Central Catholic School Student Band President. Charles is the principal clarinetist of the SCCS High School Band and was principal percussionist of the SCCS Marching Band. Nolin Kuhlman Oakley High School, Oakley, KS. Class of 2024. Instrument: Flute, Director: Mikayla Bauer. Nolin is an outstanding young man who represents every aspect of this award. He has participated in band since 4th grade dedicating countless hours to the band program. He has been involved in the Pep band, Marching band, Concert band, Piano, as well as solos and Ensembles. Daniel Shoppbell Marshall Fundamental School, Pasadena, CA. Class of 2025. Instrument: Trumpet, Director: David Chase. Daniel is a very smart and resourceful young musician with lot of talent. He plays jazz, classical and athletic bands music and is currently the drum major for the school.

Brandon Mattal Menlo-Atherton High School, Atherton, California. Class of 2025. Instrument: Flute, Director: William Flaherty. Brandon has shown exceptional leadership and musicality as a junior in band this year. He mentored other students and also volunteered to play with our school orchestra at a judged festival for which he was given accolades by the judges. Brandon exemplifies the best of what it means to be a student musician.

Josh Mattingly Real Life Christian Academy, Clermont, FL. Class of 2024. Instrument: Alto Saxophone, Director: Auburn Lindsay. Josh began playing the saxophone (and snare drum in the drumline) in the seventh grade and quickly excelled, positioning himself in leadership at an early age. He has consistently played with strong musicianship and technical facility throughout his Middle and High School years. As a woodwind section leader and bass drummer in the line, he is highly regarded by his peers as a standard to which they should aspire.

Zakkary McCoy Abbeville High School, Abbeville, LA. Class of 2024. Instrument: Tuba, Director: Gabriel LeMoine. Zakkary McCoy is a Senior tuba player at Abbeville High School. He plans on studying Music at USM in the Fall. He hopes to one day either teach music or be a sound engineer for live music groups.

Hannah McFarland Yreka High School, Yreka, CA. Class of 2024. Instrument: Trumpet, Director: Eric Seiler. Hannah has played with the Miner Band all 4 years and has also played with the Siskiyou Community Orchestra, and College of the Siskiyous Concert Band. She was Band Club President in the year 2023-24 as the band competed in the President's Cup Invitational in Washington DC in 2024.

Evan Mercer Cottondale High School, Cottondale, FL. Class of 2024. Instrument: Tuba, Director: Eddie Perales. I am very proud to have elected this student to receive this award. He is one of the most spirited and devoted musicians I have had the pleasure of teaching. He has made his town very proud as a student representative at various musical events.

Latrell Moore is an upcoming graduate, who plans to attend college and major in Physical Education. He demonstrate great leadership skills and has impacted so many young people in the band program.

Adam Douglas Morrison Glenns Ferry High School, Glenns Ferry, ID. Class of 2024. Instrument: bass clarinet, Director: Shannon Wootan. Adam has been in band since the 6th grade. He has been selected for Honor Band two years in a row. Bass clarinet is his main instrument although he has taught himself other instruments.

Sean Mahoney Narragansett Regional High School, Baldwinville, MA. Class of 2024. Instrument: Trombone, Tuba, Director: Thomas J. Salvadore. Sean is an outstanding student and Bandsman. Sean has been playing Trombone from the age of 10. He has given 8 years of dedicated service to our District. Sean does everything that is asked of him, he performs with the Concert Band, Marching Band, Chorus, Jazz Band and also appears in our annual school musicals. Sean has also mentored our younger plays with lessons after school. I can proudly nominate Sean for the John Philip Sousa Award unequivocally and without hesitation. Katy Jo Newman Ethel High School, Ethel, MS. Class of 2024. Instrument: Trumpet, Director: Shane Sprayberry. Katy Jo Newman has been first chair trumpet in the Ethel Tiger Band for the last 4 years. She is a 2023 member of the Mississippi Lion's All-State Band, has participated in numerous band clinics, served as Drum Major of the Tiger Band, and is an accomplished pianist. She has earned numerous awards and honors throughout high school, most notably the TIGERS award, Beta Club President, Star Student, and Valedictorian of the Class of 2024. Katy Jo will continue her education as an elementary education major at Mississippi State University this fall, where she has received a scholarship to participate in the Famous Maroon Band. She leaves behind a legacy of excellence and pride for others to aspire to. 

Sophia Newton Cloudcroft High School, Cloudcroft, NM. Class of 2025. Instrument: Horn, Director: Theron Coleman. Sophia has served as the CHS Bear Band Drum Major for the 2023-2024 school year. She is also a member of TSA, Student Council, NHS, Choir, and Cross Country. Sophia is dedicated to the growth and development of the Cloudcroft Music Programs and has served the program diligently.

He has learned to love the tuba and has helped cultivate an incredible tuba section in his subsequent years at Clovis East. She has also been in many honors bands including All-county and All-state, FSU Summer honor band and University of Mobile. Sophie has earned Superior at District solo & ensemble and Superior with distinction at State solo & ensemble.

Leonardo Paz Back of the Yards College Preparatory, Chicago, IL. Class of 2024. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Ajanette Guzman. I have chosen Leonardo Paz for this award because he is an amazing performer as well as section leader for the BOYCP Band/ Drumline. He is a very hard working, responsible individual who was also involved in the school musical as a guitarist and never once did he let anyone down. Leo plans to continue music after high school. He will be incredibly missed here at BOYCP!

In addition to her studies and extracurricular involvement, Sarah was the accompanist for the choir, flute section leader, and the first student from Greenup County to attend the KMEA All-State Band in 30 years.

Tiffany Ramirez Venus High School, Venus, TX. Class of 2024. Instrument: Trombone, Director: Ross Langdon. Tiffany is amazing band student! Tiffany has been the drum major for the Venus Bulldog Band for the past two years (helping the marching band receive straight 1's), she is first chair trombone player in the concert band and Jazz Band and made the All-Region band. Tiffany is also in the top ten in her graduating class! Therefore, as you can see, she is truly an amazing leader for the Band program, great musician and super smart! She plans on going to the University of Texas to pursue a degree in music education.

Ms. Alexandria Rish is the head drum major for the Uvalde Coyote Band and holds the rank of Colonel with pride! In her time at Uvalde High School Col. Rish has displayed impeccable leadership skills, as well as tremendous talent as a performer of the Tenor Saxophone, Alto Saxophone and Clarinet in various ensembles at Uvalde HS. In her capacity as drum major she conducted the Uvalde Coyote Band at all official functions. She was active in our Jazz Program under the tutelage of Jazz Director Darren McCarty.

Kompton Zukowski Iroquois Jr./Sr. High School, Erie, Pennsylvania. Class of 2024. Instrument: Percussion/Trumpet, Director: Chris Wise. Kompton has grown so much as a musician and a person throughout my time with him in band. He participated in marching band as snare drummer and as a drum major his senior year. Kompton has had too many accomplishments to mention, but just to name one, he earned a DCA World Championship in the summer of 2024.
